A link that lives forever is not always what you want. A flash sale ends Friday. A webinar replay is available for 48 hours. A beta invite is for the first 100 people. Link expiration lets a short link switch itself off automatically when its job is done.
Two ways a link can expire
- By date: after a chosen day and time the link stops redirecting and shows an expired notice.
- By clicks: after a set number of visits the link closes, perfect for limited-quantity offers.
Why set an expiry
It creates urgency for promotions, prevents stale links from misleading people long after an event, protects limited inventory, and keeps old campaign URLs from being shared again out of context. You do not have to remember to go back and disable anything.
Combine with other rules
Expiration pairs well with a password for private time-boxed content, or with a redirect that sends late visitors to a 'sorry you missed it' page instead of a dead end. You can change the expiry at any time from the dashboard.
