Sometimes a link is meant for a small audience: a draft page, an internal document, a client preview, a members-only resource. A password-protected short link puts a gate in front of the destination. Visitors see a simple password form before they are forwarded.
How it works
- You shorten a URL and enable password protection.
- You set a password (and can change it any time).
- Anyone who opens the short link must type the password first.
- Wrong password — they stay on the form. Right password — they are redirected instantly.
Typical use cases
- Client-only proofing galleries and drafts.
- Internal training material for staff.
- Early-access pages for subscribers.
- Press kits shared with selected journalists.
- Resources handed out at a private workshop.
Is it real security?
Password protection is an access gate, not encryption. It is perfect for keeping the general public out and controlling who reaches a page, but do not use it for truly sensitive data — for that, secure the destination itself. Combine it with link expiration and a click limit for time-boxed sharing.
