A plain black QR code works, but it looks like an afterthought. A designed QR code — with your logo in the centre, brand colours and a frame — looks intentional and gets scanned more often. The trick is doing it without breaking scan reliability.
Design options
- Logo embedded in the centre of the code.
- Brand colours for the dots and background.
- Frames with a call to action like 'Scan me'.
- Rounded or dotted modules instead of harsh squares.
- Custom eyes (the corner markers).
Rules so it still scans
Keep high contrast (dark code on light background), do not cover more than about 25% of the code with a logo, always leave the quiet zone border, and test on multiple phones before you print. Error correction is set high when a logo is present so the code survives the centre being covered.
Reprint-free updates
Pair a designed, dynamic QR code with a custom domain and your printed materials stay on-brand while the destination can still change behind the scenes.
